First,
we would like to provide you with a bit of history. The ability of
termites to cause damage to wooden structures has been known for
thousands of years. The Romans referred to these insects as "termes"
which aptly means "woodworms". Termites are among the most ancient
of insects. Their fossilized remains have been found in formations
more than 100 million years old. The damage to structures from
termite infestation in the United States is huge. A common
comparison given by experts is that termites cause more damage each
year than fires and flood combined. Clearly if it were possible to
"treat" a home to totally prevent damage from fire and floods we
would all have it done.. pronto!
No
matter how your home is constructed, where it's located, or how old
it is, it could be attacked by subterranean termites. They are among
the most destructive organisms on the planet. They are a threat
across 70 percent of the world and in every part of the United
States except Alaska. They cause $2-3 billion worth of damage each
year in the US alone. They are, in fact, the most serious threat
your home may face. In most cases your homeowners insurance will not
cover the damages that termites inflict.
As a
potential or current customer we want to provide you with choice in
the treatment best suited toward your homes protection. Some may
want to avoid treatments with liquid soil termiticides. We respect
your choice. Others may yet have reservations as to the efficacy of
termite bait systems. We understand your caution. Our staff will be
as flexible as possible in meeting your needs while still providing
the protection our warranty liability requires. We will provide
information to you illustrating the record of safety and efficiency
each of our chosen products provide and will be happy to answer any
questions you may have.
Each type of treatment can be used
by itself and may prove adequate, however by combining the
attributes of each treatment method: termite bait stations, subsoil
termiticide and borate wood treatment your home is virtually assured
of the best protection available against termites.
Termidor® -
Advanced undetectable technology
Termidor belongs to a remarkable new class
of non repellent termiticides. It is applied as a solution, to the
subsoil area around your home, to masonry voids and beneath concrete
slabs such as garages. Because worker termites cannot smell it, see
it, or feel it, they forage freely in the treated areas and
unknowingly pick up a lethal dose. As the workers return to the
colony frequently, they exposes others within the colony, resulting
in complete control of a very costly pest. This is in sharp contrast
to older liquid termiticides which rely on repellent barriers that
termites can finds breaks in or avoid completely. In rigorous USDA
trials and similar trials in Japan and Europe, Termidor has
repeatedly proven itself 100% effective in eradicating termites.
A little bit of
Termidor goes a long way in treating your home
The active
ingredient in Termidor (fipronil) comprises just 0.06% of the water
based solution used to treat a home. This concentration is much
lower than that of the older termiticides and less than most
household insecticides. Though gallons of solution are used in a
typical treatment, only about 8 ounces of the active ingredient is
actually used. Keep in mind too, that since 1995 fipronil based
products have been used worldwide for flea and tick control on
household pets. Termidor has virtually no odor. It is safe, reliable
and long lasting. What more can you ask for?
How previous
termiticides compare to Termidor
Soil
termiticides have been around for decades. With early, very potent
termiticides, the idea was very simple: treat the soil under and
around the home and treat the masonry voids in the foundation. As
the home was constructed, these areas were covered and termites
could not penetrate the barrier to damage the home. Unfortunately,
these previous chemical formulations were detectable by termites and
they could find breaks in the barrier and make their way through.
The new non repellant termiticides are much safer and work in a much
more efficient way. Termidor is a odorless formulation that termites
will contact unknowingly and then spread it to the whole colony
through what's called the "transfer effect". We have been using
Termidor, by BASF for a number of years. Termite damage to homes
treated with Termidor is almost unheard of. Tests conducted by the
U.S. department of Agriculture, forestry service show Termidor to be
the most efficient termiticide commercially available.
Advance
Termite Baiting System-
"next generation baiting system"
We are pleased to now offer installation and monitoring of the Advance
Termite Baiting System developed by Whitmire Micro-gen. This system
is approved by the state of Georgia as pre or post construction treatment
for the control of subterranean termites. Locked, low visibility
bait stations are installed in the soil at intervals around your
home. Initially, inert monitoring cartridges are contained within
the stations and checked regularly by our technicians for termite
activity. When termites are found in a station, the monitoring
cartridge is replaced with the termiticidal bait. As the worker
termites feed on the bait and return to feed the colony, 100% colony
elimination is achieved.

Combining unique
advantages of Termidor and Advance Bait System provides the best
termite killing protection available.
We at A&A had initially been very wary of termite baiting systems.
Many cases were documented in which homes had suffered severe
termite damage while being "protected" with some of the early
baiting systems. It seemed to many professionals that termite
baiting had no future in the industry. It has now become evident
that depending entirely on a termite baiting system may leave gaps
through which termite damage may occur. As termite baiting
technology matured, results have improved significantly and we were
ready to get on board. We chose the Advance Termite Bait System by
Whitmire Micro-gen. The Advance system has many advantages over
competing products both from a design and a formulation standpoint.
As a world leader in pest control products since 1934, Whitmire
really believes in proving their products in the real world before
seeking to promote sales.
Bora-Care
Wood Borate Treatment
Bora-Care is a Borate based termiticide,
insecticide and fungicide manufactured by
Nisus Corporation. It is effective against all termite species as
well as most wood destroying beetles. Bora-Care also kills wood
decaying fungus and as a side benefit kills most household insects
that come in contact with it. Bora-Care is so effective that it has
been approved as a stand alone preconstruction termite treatment
for use in Georgia. Borates are a naturally occurring mineral which
are poisonous to insects but are very safe for use around humans and
pets. Bora-Care is formulated to penetrate the wood to which it is
applied and provide protection for the life of the home. |
